Spice-up Your Meals With A Dash Of Chinese Cooking Sauces!

Think of Chinese cooking methods and you can't help but imagine putting in a dash of Chinese cooking sauces, which work to balance the flavors in a meal and to bring out the best taste in each ingredient as they release the nutrients and act as a flavoring agent too!

Hakka Food at Hakka Recipe Restaurant

Let start with the history of Hakka, before we talk about the nice Hakka food. Hakka people are migratory tribes of ethnic Han people originated from central. There is a mistaken view that Hakka cuisine is pragmatic and based on preserved foods. Hakka cuisine concentrates on the texture of food - the hallmark of Hakka cuisine. At here, they have a very nice seating and a very cosy surroundings.

The signature dish at Hakka Recipe Restaurant, "yong tau fu" 釀豆腐 (stuffed tofu cube) for this size it is only cost 80sen each. (ps, there are two tau fu in that)  The tofu cube was heaped with minced meat and braised with soup and some places they deep fried it till golden brown.

The return of Taiwanese Food search, at Little Taiwan Subang Jaya

The search of Taiwanese Food has returned, at subang jaya we found another new spot for Taiwanese Food. It is at the shoplot opposite Taylor college. After my first experience on Taiwanese food at Restoran Neighbourhood at Damansara Perdana which i blogged few weeks back, i decided to give taiwanese food another try.

Although i could not convice myself to like Taiwanese food, but i just like trying it because of it's variety. So this time we tried something different again, the taiwanese speacial toast, if you read chinese you know from the menu it is called 棺材面包 direct translated as: coffin bread, and because of that my gf said don't order this. fainted~ what a superstitious lady. RM 5.90, i don't quite like this but i will still continue the search until i found taiwanese food that i like.

Restoran On Kee at Permas Jaya JB

Well, heres another restaurant from JB that I wana share with you guys. Its called Restoran Permas On Kee.

 On Kee

I would say it is a typical chinese restaurant that you'll find in any other corner in Malaysia. So I'll just get straight to their signature dishes that I find its different from other places. The 1st dish is the Chicken Floss Taohu. Im not a chicken floss fan personally, however the sweetness of the floss is able to blend-well with the soury gravy, thus creating a swett-and-sour taste, a real soothing taste, its perfect as an appetizer. Sandwhiched between the floss and gravy is a TENDER soft home-made taohu, the 3 of them make them a great combination.

Sakura Cafe at Taman Pelangi JB

I went to JB 3 weeks ago. My cousin over there brought me around for some nice food. So I'll inrtoduce the places that I personally find worth trying when you are in JB. This blog I'll introduce Sakura Cafe.

 Sakura Main Entrance

Its different from the sakura in KL (famous for nasi lemak), its just co-incidently share the same name. The environment setting of the cafe is really cosy, it gives you the old country cottage feeling with its antiques placed around the cafe. You'll definitely feel very much at home (thats what I feel that time :-p) as you can see from the 2 pictures below:

Taiwanese food at Restoran Neighbourhood, Damansara Perdana

I believe a lot of Malaysian got influenced by Taiwanese Variety show that is bombing Malaysia television programme so if you plan to try some Taiwanese food, you might want to drop by to this restaurant. The lady boss of this restaurant is a Taiwanese, so i think at here you are able to try out pretty original Taiwanese food.

This is the "lu roh fan" 魯肉飯 (minced fatty pork served on rice) i ordered and this is a very typical Taiwanese dishes. I have not eaten this before, so i can't compare  but what i feel is the taste does not really suit the ordinary Malaysian Chinese tastes bud. We are in a multi race community so we somehow would prefer spicy food. (just like what i am, a curry lover)

The 30 years old Wan Tan Mee stall in Klang

Finally I manage to free myself to try out the Wan Tan Mee recommended by my dad located at the heart of klang. (it is near the Maybank branch at Jalan Meru) I believe the older people will know this place, as the owner told me that he been selling at here for over 30 years. If you ask most of klang people, i think they will know this place. (except YOUNG man like me) If you have time, you should check out this funny ah see wan tan mee history revealed by suanie.

The highly recommended dish will be the Wan Tan (also called wonton, wanton) that literally means "swallowing clouds". This is the best Wan Tan i ate before so far. I feel so lucky for ordering additional Wan Tan that day. Trust me the Wan Tan is good, you should never miss this.

Traditional Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih

After finished reading fried-tomato's blog about Mee Hoon Kuih, it reminded me about one famous Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih- Chia Kee Restaurant .Their Mee Hoon Kuih is very stretchy and tender. There are a lot of this kind of stalls in Semenyih but i think this is one of the best among all the stalls. Other than selling Mee Hun Kuih, they also sell fried noodles, Wan Tan Mee, Yee Mee and etc.

Mee Hoon Kuih is a Hokkien dish. It is also known as Pan Meen and when people say about Mee Hoon Kuih, it means the dough is tore into pieces. The picture shows the typical Mee Hoon Kuih served with sayur manis and fried-anchovies in soup that I tried. I think they use anchovies(ikan bilis) as the main ingredient for the soup and because of that, it is sweet. Besides, they able to manage the timing of cooking very well because without the right timing, the Mee Hoon Kuih will come out sticky.
