Traditional Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih

After finished reading fried-tomato's blog about Mee Hoon Kuih, it reminded me about one famous Mee Hoon Kuih in Semenyih- Chia Kee Restaurant .Their Mee Hoon Kuih is very stretchy and tender. There are a lot of this kind of stalls in Semenyih but i think this is one of the best among all the stalls. Other than selling Mee Hun Kuih, they also sell fried noodles, Wan Tan Mee, Yee Mee and etc.

Mee Hoon Kuih is a Hokkien dish. It is also known as Pan Meen and when people say about Mee Hoon Kuih, it means the dough is tore into pieces. The picture shows the typical Mee Hoon Kuih served with sayur manis and fried-anchovies in soup that I tried. I think they use anchovies(ikan bilis) as the main ingredient for the soup and because of that, it is sweet. Besides, they able to manage the timing of cooking very well because without the right timing, the Mee Hoon Kuih will come out sticky.

She is the owner of the stall. Beside her you can see the machine she uses to make the dough into one big piece and she will tear it into small pieces by hand. Although they do not make it wholly by hand, but by using this special machine, the Mee Hun Kuih they have is as delicious as the handmake one.

Here is a closer look to the special machine. She is turning the wheel to make the dough to Pan Mee.

The picture showing a delicious looking stewed Pan Mee. I believe that you can't easily get this from other ordinary stalls. The stewed Pan Mee is fried using a steel wok with strong flame cooking style and because of this the gravy has a slight tantalizing taste which makes the Pan Mee more delicious. Yummy yummy...

The machine they used look

The machine they used look so much different then the one used by most stall. But i think Mee Hoon Kueh by machine will not be as good as the handmade one.

The stewed Pan mee, is pretty new to me for sure. Well, at least there something to try on the next visit to semenyih. Without you telling, i don't even know semenyih has so many delicious foods.

Yes, it is special!~

Yes, it is special!~I also think their Mee Hoon Kuih is so thin and smooth is because of this machine. It is quite a big one.

Yeah, the stewed Pan Meen is very nice and it seems that you are a Pan Meen lover, this dish is a must try...

I am a flour lover

Well, yes i am a pan meen lover or so call flour lover. Well, today i am going to blog about my fave Pan Meen at my work place, Taman Tun Dr Ismail. It was also my colleagues fave Pan Mee as well.

Personally, i liked their chili. so just stay tuned, it shall be ready after my lunch hour.

handmade better. as one can

handmade better. as one can control it thickness...

I agree

I agree with u. Do u know how to make Mee Hoon Kuih? I like to make Mee Hoon Kuih at home but I think it's not easy to do handmake one cause either it is too thick or too thin. haha...

How about dry Pan Mee?

Have u heard of Pan Mee which is dry (no soup)? It's quite special and just like dry Wan Tan Mee. Located in Sri Serdang pasar there.

There is fried Pan Meen!~

Yes. I tried a dried Pan Meen in Ipoh before which is also very nice. There is a place near Inti College Nilai where they have fried, stewed, "Wan Tan Pan Meen" and etc... Basically they use pan meen as their major mee and cook all sort of pan meen. I will try to write a blog about this restaurant.

Each one has it own

Each one has it own special....but i more prefer Mee Hoon Kuih. More softer compare with the Pan Mee which is a bit harder.

I also prefer Mee Hoon Kuih

I also prefer Mee Hoon Kuih!~hehe !~That's why i ordered Mee Hoon Kuih. Actually I have tried many Mee Hoon Kuih stalls. It's seen that u also like Mee Hoon Kuih, why don't u recommend some good one here?

Chilli Flakes Pan Mee

I know there is a place around Jalan TAR in KL that serves Chilli Pan Mee. Its dry-typed with an semi-cooked egg, than you'll add chilli flakes cooked with dried-prawns. Its totally different from the other pan mee that I had tried....will blog it here once I have the chance to locate this shop cos it was like 3 years ago, when I ate there last time.
